A filling is used to repair a tooth that is affected by decay, such as a cavity, or a tooth with a crack or fracture. The affected portion of the tooth will be removed and then filled. There are two types of fillings we use:
Composite Fillings
These fillings are tooth-colored and most often used in small to midsize fillings, chipped or cracked teeth, cosmetic tooth repair, and decayed or worn teeth. This is the most widely used type of filling and is especially suited for front and more visible teeth. Composite fillings may have to be replaced after many years, as they are not permanent.
Silver Amalgam Fillings
This is a low cost, easy to apply, and strong option for a filling. These are generally used in the back of the mouth.
